Latvian Folksongs. Interlinear translation
Latvju dainas (1894–1915) edited by Krišjānis Barons — the most complete edition of Latvian folksongs to date — was the crowning achievement of the national romantic period in Latvian cultural history. Over the course of time the collection has become a symbol of Latvian cultural identity, and the filing cabinet Barons used to organize his collected materials (the dainu skapis) has been included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. This selection with interlinear translations in English, German and Russian makes it possible for the reader to become familiar with part of the texts of the Latvju dainas, as well as with the structure of the original publication.
